Convoys Wharf has a rich and vibrant history. Although largely vacant now, the site was once the first Royal Dockyard, established by Henry VIII in 1513 to build ships for the Royal Navy.

In 2005, Lewisham Council resolved to grant planning approval for the redevelopment of the site to the previous owners, News International. Since then progress on this important development has stalled.
Hutchison Whampoa, the new owner of the site, is ready to deliver this huge investment in Deptford and has been working on some amendments to the previously approved scheme that will be submitted to Lewisham Council in the near future.
